Santiago it’s the capital city of Chile and it’s between the fifth and sixth region. Santiago doesn’t have a coast, like the most cities of the country, but the places that you can visit are varied.
The places that a tourist should visit in Santiago depend of what the person wants –walk, have a relaxed conversation with a partner, dance, drink some good beer or other drink, etc-, therefore are a lot of possible sites to visit, i’ll try to give a short list of the places I enjoy the most in this city.
In first place if you want to walk, maybe do some exercise during morning or noon –and in some way- scape from pollution and noise of the city, a tourist should visit the “San Cristobal hill”; this is the perfect place to walk, breath some fresh air, have a nice day in a beautiful place with nature and perhaps -if you don’t wan’t to be alone- make a barbecue with some friend on the hill, in the place called “el Hermitaño” , that is it’s free!!!!.
If you don’t want to do the effort of grilling you food, you can go to “La Vega” –Calicanto subway station- and eat tipical chilean food, the prices are not expensive , and the dishes are quite big; I recommend “paila marina”, “cebiche” or “porotos con rienda”.
On the other hand, if you want to sit, talk with friends and drink a nice beer or other kind of drink –picosour, piscola, vaina, caipiriña, etc- a tourist should go to two places: “Barrio Bellavista” – Baquedano subway station - and “Chiva’s Bar” on Bilbao street with Vespucio- .
“Barrio Ballevista” it`s a very long and noisy street called Pio Nono, that has a lot of bars and outside tables to sit, drink, share with some friends and if you are brave, dance; “Barrio Bellavista” it’s located in front of plaza Italia in the district of Providencia; it’s a very fun, popular and visited place.
Nevertheless, if you want a more quiet and peaceful place, you should visit “Chiva’s Bar”, it’s very small and beautiful bar; it has a lot of different drinks with a very special colors; one of my favorites is called Cheerbaylee, I recommend it. They have have very varied music, so you will never get bored of hearing the same things.
Of course there are many other places to go, but I recommend these four, because they are the places that I know the most and I think you will like them a lot.
=)
